Oh, Oprah, your quotes are so good that’s why I have so many in my files! This one gets me thinking about imagination because to live the life of your dreams you first need to access your imagination. Sounds easy, but it’s harder than you think!
Remember when you were a kid and your imagination was infectious and transient to real life? I’m talking cardboard pirate ships, shoe boxes that were dollhouse furniture, and whipping up a 5-star meal in a bowl out of random ingredients in the kitchen!
In those days we were living the life of our dreams. Using our imagination and taking charge of the moment. Creating it, molding it, inspiring it to become whatever we wanted it to be.
So what happened? #adulting right? Reminds me of a scene in the movie Old School:
Now your cardboard pirate ships are piles of Amazon boxes in your garage. Your shoe boxes are maybe used for drawer organization and that 5-star meal is now a frozen pizza. Ugh! What happened?
The life of your dreams is not left behind where your imagination died years ago. It’s alive and in you somewhere. It’s what drives the crazy ideas that lead to things we take for granted today like lightbulbs, smartphones, and airplanes, seriously!
The whole reason I created this business is to help people design a better life! Read more from a previous post here.
Think about an area of your life you could insert a little imagination into this week and let this quote inspire you to make a change. Maybe it’s a spontaneous pillow fight with your kids, trying a new recipe, or busting a move alone with your hairbrush microphone.
